Emerging Adolescent Concerns

EMERGING ADOLESCENT CONCERNSAdolescence is a unique time in a child’s life. Adolescents must cope with physical, emotional, and social changes. Exposure to poverty, abuse, or violence, can make adolescents vulnerable to mental health problems. It is critical to protect them from adversity, promote learning and psychological well-being, and ensure access to mental health care for their health as they grow from adolescence to adulthood.

The World Health Organization estimates that 1 in 7 (14%) 10- to 19-year-olds experience mental health conditions that often remain unrecognized and untreated.

Adolescents with mental health concerns are particularly vulnerable to social exclusion, discrimination, educational difficulties, risk-taking behaviors, physical ill-health, stigma (which affects their readiness to seek help), and human rights violations.

If you have an adolescent child who is struggling with physical, emotional, and social changes, take the first step toward helping them by calling Willow Tree Therapy at 973-903-5431 or Request an Appointment here.
